Here are a few teaching ideas:
1) Pay your child for certain chores, so that they understand how people get paid. Then charge them for snacks, so that they understand the cost of living. You want to keep this fun, so I would suggest you do this more as a game for just a few days. Just enough for them to understand the concept of making money and spending money.
2) You can use the money to help your child learn how to make change.
3) Play an entrepreneurial game withyour child and help your child learn about starting a business. Make up a service. Think about how much that service is worth, and what the expenses would be. At the end of the game, see if your child had more incoming money ( revenue) than outgoing money ( expenses) ? If so, the business made money. If not, the business lost money.
